PHOTO SESSION Q & A's
What should I bring for my child or children's Photo Session?
We encourage parents to bring up to two outfits. Also, if you want to incorporate into the portrait your child's favorite toy or something memorable, go ahead and bring it.
What should I do if my child does not want to smile or won't stay still?
It takes a few minutes for a child to feel safe and comfortable in the environment or setting provided. Let your child explore the place and cheerfully warm up to us. Remember our goal is to capture your child's natural expressions and personality.
What to wear for Group Portraits?
You can follow the same instructions as in the Tips on Clothing
section below or you can make it a fun Group Portrait Session and
choose a "Theme" where the entire family is wearing the same outfit
for instance, a white shirt and blue jeans or beige pants for a more
casual look or solid color outfits for a more traditional and elegant
look. Just remember to be consistent and specially avoid wearing clothes
that make you stand out from the rest of the group.
Tips on clothing for photo sessions
Dark Clothes make you look slimmer. Since the camera tends to add a few pounds wearing dark outfit makes you look elegant and slimmer. Bright clothes, such as white and most pastels are perfect for brighter backdrops or outdoor sessions but whites make your body figure look wider.
It is preferable to wear solid colors since logos, or prints can divert the attention away from the main subject in a portrait.
Vertical stripes are sliming, horizontal stripes widen your figure.
For portraits settings such as outdoors, we recommend lighter colors. Pastel outfits combines nicely with the outdoor lighting.
Short sleeves make your upper arms look wider. If you are self-conscious about your body figure, especially your arms, we recommend wearing long sleeves.
Keep it simple. Remember that "you" want to be the center of attention and not your jewelry. Use jewelry that will enhance your portrait and remove any that won't.
During a portrait, shoes can be distracting especially if they don't coordinate with what you are wearing. For full size portraits: avoid oversized shoes, heels make you look taller and slimmer at the same time.
Try avoiding glasses, especially tinted, if at all possible. Non-glare glasses are ok.
What is the format of your photo sessions?
Each Portrait Session is conducted at the location of your
choice even at your own home. The Portrait Session lasts approximately
30 to 60 minutes. Although with children, it might take a little longer
since they need time to feel at ease and relaxed in our presence.
